THIS IS US—
We are a simple church with a simple message:
Know Jesus and Make Jesus Known!

It is the first Sunday of Advent.
We welcome you this day to the worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! He is our hope!
HOPE
Luke 2:22-38
Introduction: God’s hope for those who trust in him.
Hebrews 1:1 Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.
Isaiah 40:1—5 Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God. 2 “Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and announce to her that her time of hard service is over, her iniquity has been pardoned, and she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.” 3 A voice of one crying out:
Prepare the way of the LORD in the wilderness;
make a straight highway for our God in the desert.
4 Every valley will be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill will be leveled;
the uneven ground will become smooth
and the rough places, a plain.
5 And the glory of the LORD will appear,
and all humanity together will see it,
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
God promises the hope of salvation to all who trust in Jesus as the Son of God who saves us from our sins. Luke 2:22-32
Isaiah 43:1-3a Now this is what the LORD says—the one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel—“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you. 3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, and your Savior.
I Timothy 1:15 This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them.
Hope in God’s gift of a Savior comes at a great cost. Luke 2:33-35
A Second Witness to God’s gift of Redeeming Love! Luke 2:36-38
What is the foundation of hope in your life?
Hebrews 11:13-16 These all died in faith, although they had not received the things that were promised. But they saw them from a distance, greeted them, and confessed that they were foreigners and temporary residents on the earth. 14 Now those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15 If they were thinking about where they came from, they would have had an opportunity to return. 16 But they now desire a better place—a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
Colossians 1:13-23 He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son he loves. 14 In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.16 For everything was created by him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through him and for him.17 He is before all things, and by him all things hold together.18 He is also the head of the body, the church;h e is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything.19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile everything to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21 Once you were alienated and hostile in your minds as expressed in your evil actions. 22 But now he has reconciled you by his physical body through his death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before him— 23 if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard.
Will you trust God, believing that Jesus is your Savior, your Lord, your hope of the fullness of life that never ends?
